OBTAINING BIRTH, DEATH AND MARRIAGE RECORDS
All copies of vital records issued are certified and have a raised seal. There is a $15.00 fee for the first certified copy and $5.00 for each additional copy of the same record.
You may apply for a copy of a vital record in person or through the mail. If you apply by mail, the vital record will be mailed to you within approximately 1-3 business days from receipt of your request. If you appear in person, it will take 5-10 minutes. Payment must be included with your request. Please supply us with a self-addressed stamped envelope.

BIRTH RECORDS: 1869 to present
The Alcona County Clerk’s office has birth records for individuals born in Alcona County ONLY. Birth records are restricted in Michigan and an individual is only entitled to their own or their child’s birth record (must be named on the birth record). Photo ID is required when requesting a birth record.

-Parent’s names (including mother’s maiden name)
-Place of birth
-Signature
-An identifying document (copy of driver’s license, state ID card, etc)

DEATH RECORDS: 1869 to present
The Alcona County Clerk’s office has death records for persons whose death occurred in Alcona County ONLY. If the decedent was a resident in Alcona County but died outside of Alcona County, you will need to contact the county where the death occurred to obtain a copy of the death record. Death certificates are public records and can be obtained by anyone.

MARRIAGE RECORDS: 1896 to present
The Alcona County Clerk’s office has marriage records for individuals who were residents of the county and made application for the license in Alcona County at the time in which they were married.
